News and Updates

On Tuesday, Jax Oyster Conservation will be participating in the St Johns Riverkeepers screening and panel for “Unfiltered: The Truth About Oysters”.  This is a great film that covers the importance of oysters in our coastal cultures, threats to oyster reef survival, and the efforts to restore their habitat.  We’ll be talking on the panel with some of our partners working on growing, serving, and restoring oysters in northeast Florida.

In September, our team had a great time attending Florida Fin Fest in Jacksonville Beach!

Hunter sat on a panel with the City of Atlantic Beach's engineer, Steve Swann, to talk about how the health of our inland waterways affect  our coastal ecosystems and our upcoming project at Dutton Island.

Riverview Park Living Shoreline

In July 2026, we doployed 90 POSH modules at Riverview Park with the Riverview Collective Community Organization, Northside Pride, and the St Johns Riverkeeper.

This is the second of three deployments at Riverview Park, and the last 110 modules will be deployed in March of 2027. When complete, the project will total 240 POSH modules covering nearly the entire length of shoreline at the park.

This project will be the largest living shoreline on the St Johns River to date!

Watch this video describing the project from The Florida Times Union! Or check out their photo gallery of the delpoyment!
